Reflecting on July Atlanta Market 2014

After a bit of rest, we are eager to share a review of the Summer 2014 Market with delight and intent. While looking back on this iconic week full of decorative accessories, luxury furniture, unique styles, classic works of art, and so much more, one phrase comes to mind: Thinking Visually.

This newly social and image-driven world that we all live in was, without a doubt, prevalent in the minds of all who played a role in this Market. We carefully crafted a new Style Guide (found online at julymarket.jdouglas.com) that showcased our lines, emerging trends and the hot spots for food and libation in the city. Not only were guests able to see our new brands for themselves in the jdouglas showroom for the first time, but the Style Guide provides several product shots that perfectly capture the essence of each line with new product introductions and best sellers featured. In short, during this market we challenged attendees to think visually as they shopped, to use the various social media platforms to communicate, and to step away from the usual and boldly shake things up a bit.

Here’s a look at our newest brands:

Another aspect that was wholly present throughout Market was an air of liveliness and hospitality. It appeared as if from buyers to representatives, and industry experts, there was a wonderful buzz of energy. This combination of high spirits was enhanced even more by the smartphone and tablet charging stations throughout the showroom, signature cocktails and a special salute to our VP of Policy and Development, Teresa Warner, who is leaving in mid August after a 10+ year stint. Please join us in wishing her much success!

As the week progressed, more excitement ensued with two special events in particular. Noted lifestyle and entertainment author and Georgia native, James Farmer, joined us for a book signing of his latest book on Southern food and culture, Dinner on the Grounds: Summer Suppers and Soirees. Guests toasted the event with Elderberry Champagne Cocktails and Farmer’s own Buttermilk Peach Pound Cake.

Topping off the excitement was a rep Instagram contest. In the spirit of thinking visually, Doug challenged our reps to create a posting that captured most effectively in both creativity and vision the jdouglas brand and this particular market together. The reps were paired up and given a day to collaborate on their entry. After many exciting submissions, our panel of judges selected the team of Frances Eaves and Danielle McGeough. You can view their winning entry by visiting us on Instagram: @jdouglasliving.

We would like to thank each of you that visited us during market and all those involved who helped made this particular market such a wonderful success!
